Canzonetta News...

An exciting addition to our 2019 programme: we have been invited to sing at The Church of the Sacred Heart in Bournemouth, to present a concert for Passiontide, a musical prelude to our annual Palm Sunday Concert at Bere Regis. We return to St. Nicholas Church, Studland for a concert in aid of Lewis Manning Hospice and Salisbury Cathedral is hosting our concert for Salisbury Hospice in July.  Autumn planning includes a return, after nearly ten years, to St Mark's, Swanage.

We've recently recorded some songs for Dorchester Radio KeeP106 so listen out for Canzonetta on the airwaves!  Our huge thanks to Andy Worth.  Listen here to 'My Song is love unknown' written for us in 2018 by Dr.Richard hall.

Formed in 2004, this East-Dorset-based singing ensemble enjoys nothing more than travelling around the beautiful Dorset countryside, singing in the delightful churches of Dorset and enjoying tea and cake afterwards!  We cover a varied range of singing styles from baroque and sacred pieces to complex folk arrangements, spirituals to fabulous arrangements of twentieth century songs; close harmony, a cappella or with piano accompaniment.

Canzonetta presents four concerts each year and our adventures thus far have taken us through East Dorset, the Isle  of Purbeck and even as far as Jersey. En route this not-for-profit organisation raises funds to support the local community. If you would like to learn more or you would like to join our e-mailing list, please get in touch using the Contact Us page. We  would love to hear from you.  You can also follow us on Facebook.

Previous concerts...

Despite the inclement weather there was standing-room-only for our  'Canzonetta at Christmas' concert at St. Martin's-on-the-walls, Wareham on Sunday 16 December 2018.  An afternoon of seasonal songs and readings ended with mulled wine and mince pies.  We hope to return to the tiny Saxon Church of St. Martin's in 2020 as part of their 1000th year celebrations.

We enjoyed our visit to the Parish Church of St. Edward, King and Martyr in Corfe Castle on Sunday 28 October 2018.  Miro Vosper (soprano) was our delightful soloist, singing songs by Roger Quilter and Ralph Vaughan Williams.

A sunny day welcomed us to St. Andrew's in the village of Milborne  St. Andrew on Sunday 10th June 2018. Songs and readings for a summer afternoon included the first performance of 'Bushes and Briars' written for Canzonetta by Dorset composer John Watkins.
