Our annual Palm Sunday concert for Holy Week will be, as always, at Bere Regis Parish Church.

We have arranged a return visit to St. Nicholas, Studland, in May. We usually have scrummy cream teas in the Purbeck sunshine... well, fingers crossed for the sunshine!

On a Saturday evening in July we will be presenting a concert in Salisbury Cathedral for Salisbury Hospice.  This will be a ticketed event.

Previous concerts...

Bere Regis Parish Church was closed for roof repairs for six months and after a monumental cleaning effort by the excellent church team just the day before, our annual Palm Sunday concert could go ahead on 25th March 2018.  It was great to see a full church once again!  Our programme of Sacred Music for Holy Week included Vivaldi's 'Gloria', 'Ave Maria' by both Monteverdi and Faure plus 'My song is love unknown' specially written for us by Dr. Richard Hall. Accompanied by Richard and Isabelle Butler on the piano and with a solo from Richard,  it was a magical afternoon of music making.  Tea and cake too!  Retiring collection for St. John's.

Our Christmas Concert on Sunday 17th December 2017 in the Church of St John the Evangelist, Tolpuddle was a huge success. Thank you to all the team for making us so welcome.  The church was full and we had a lovely afternoon of ensemble singing, solos, duets and readings, culminating in mulled wine and mince pies. William Bishop (treble) was our guest soloist with the traditional 'Once in Royal David's City', the fabulous 'O Holy Night' and the quirky 'Do you hear what I hear'.  William  also played a selection of carols on the church organ as people arrived.  The retiring collection was for St. John's.

Canzonetta News...

We have commissioned John Watkins to arrange a folk song for us. It is lovely!. 'Bushes and Briars' will have its first performance on Sunday 10th June at Milborne St. Andrew. John is the Director of Dorset Chamber Choir, so look out for their concerts too.

Looking ahead to 2019....

Formed in 2004, this East-Dorset-based singing ensemble enjoys nothing more than travelling around the beautiful Dorset countryside, singing in the delightful churches of Dorset and enjoying tea and cake afterwards!  We cover a varied range of singing styles from baroque and sacred pieces to complex folk arrangements, spirituals to fabulous arrangements of twentieth century songs; close harmony, a cappella or with piano accompaniment.

Canzonetta presents four concerts each year and our adventures thus far have taken us through East Dorset, the Isle  of Purbeck and even as far as Jersey. En route this not-for-profit organisation raises funds to support the local community. If you would like to learn more or you would like to join our e-mailing list, please get in touch using the Contact Us page. We  would love to hear from you.  You can also follow us on Facebook.
